La Parrilla estate is inside the famous Monfragüe National Park, which, with its 18.396 hectares, has
been the first protected area to be declared in Extremadura.
Las Viñas has been elected as the first place in Europe where a very important
Egyptian Vultures colony (120 individuals) overwinters.
The reserve is protected by a real and solid conservation project which includes maintenance, preservation of the Olive trees, nature tourism, environmental education and research.
The Iberian peninsula is one of the richest places in Europe in terms of wildlife. Spain and Portugal have always believed in the importance of preserving their natural history heritage and this contributed to make this area a real birders’ and photographers’ paradise.
The typical Iberian dehesa, where Evergreen, Pyrenean and Cork oaks reign, hosts SKUA reserves, located close to Spain/Portugal border.
Hundreds of Griffon and Cinereous Vultures are photographers daily companions here, together with Ravens and Black and Red Kites, inflight, perched, fighting or feeding at close distance.
