Kanha is situated in the heart of India, on the eastern border of Madhya Pradesh, the central state famous for its virgin primary forest habitat: one of the most picturesque landscapes of this nation. The Bagh Kanha is an exclusive rural retreat close to Kanha National Park, offering a unique experience through six hectares of land and four professional photo hides, combining the hides experience with the exploring of diverse sectors of the above national park.

Focusing on our hides is to mention that they can give you incredible photographic encounters as the property has groves and plantations overlooking water bodies; the Bagh is towards Mukki Gate, a quieter side of Kanha National Park, where there are tigers, cheetal, sambar deer, nilgai, and birds such as the crested hawk eagle, vultures and painted francolin.

The Bagh offers jungle safaris into the deep Kanha’s forest, dominated by Sal and Bamboo, optimum for species as White-naped Woodpecker, Red Junglefowl, Painted Spurfowl; the habitat is also enriched by riverine forest, open grassland and marshy areas, with a good opportunity to see Black Ibis, Tickles Thrush, Jungle Owlet, Blue Bearded Bee-eater, Motted Wood Owl, Golden Oriole, …

Kanha has two main valleys and is home to most diverse flora and fauna: it’s a delicate ecosystem that requires a constant monitoring to maintain its species, but we are proud to say that this is one of the best places where the chances to see a tiger are good, as well as Grey Langur, Flying Fox, Sambar, Muntjac and Wild Boar, Indian Fox, Chinkara, Jakal, Jungle Cat. We assure there’s possibility even to see Leopard, Gaur, Sloth Bear, Wolf and Dhole. More difficult to see are just small Indian Civet, Indian Porcupine and four-horned Antelope.

The Bagh is located in the middle of the rolling Maikal hills, which is full of evocative villages all set around The Kanha National Park: its landscape is terrific, with thousands of fruiting trees and vegetables spread across the estate, surrounding the cottages for our guests; twenty-four rooms with terraces facing the gardens and the lake, and en suite marble bathrooms.

The restaurant provides local and fresh food, directly from the property fields, it’s slightly elevated as dining terraces with an open perch to gaze gardens and observing nature.
