Even if the restoration project is not finished yet, the place is already frequented by lots of species along the year and some rarities has alredy appeared, such as Red Phalarop, Little Stint and Marbled Duck; These first observations give us hope for the future of this area. This oasis represents also a very important support to all those migratory birds that have to deal with the difficult Alps crossing, being located in
one of the most famous italian migratory way, just at the Alps entrance.
Moreover, the place has already been chosen by lots of wintering Herons (Sacred Ibis, Great Egrets, Little Egrets and
Grey Herons) In front of the several hides that overlook the wetlands, Black Winged Stilt, Ruffs, Spotted Redshank, Blacktailed Godwits, Sandpipers, Snipes, Jack Snipe, Spotted Crake, Water Rail, Lapwings and Cormorants can be usually seen . You will also find Common tern, Black Tern, Wiskered Tern, in addition to the above mentioned Herons, also Squacco Heron, some individuals of Purple Heron, Bittern, Glossy Ibis, Spoonbill and Little Bittern can be photographed.
Among ducks, the colourful Shelduck, Garganey, Teals and Shoveler use to get together in the water bodies.
Lots of passerines usually spend time among the hedges and banks of Cascina Spinola, from the colourful Yellow Wagtails to the shy Bluethroat. The incredible biodiversity of this area includes also several raptors as Marsh Harrier, Common Buzzard, Hen harrier, Little Owl and Barn Owl, normally easy to see from different hides.
